this is my skyline diary. well today is June the 18th, 2008. Tomorrow I am glad that I will be getting my skyline back. It turns out the alternator was broken. They say it will cost me $300. $200 for the alternator and $100 for labor. I guess that's not too bad. I am just glad I will be getting my car back. I'm so sick of taking the train. Every day it is almost a four hour commute. Particularly coming home is very brutal. If you think that sitting in rush-hour in a car is bad, try doing it in a bus packed with people.
On the other hand however, it is lot cheaper to take public transportation. Now that gas is so expensive driving my Nissan skyline has been a nightmare. Every week it seems I have to spend about $100 in gasoline. That is a little bit crazy. If you own a Nissan skyline I would highly recommend that it is not your main car unless you have tons of money to pay for gas and maintained the car when it breaks down.
Remember that this is a high performance sports car so over time it needs even more love and attention than an economy car would. With the twin turbo system a lot can go wrong. I got my car with low mileage and hardly any rust but still there had been a large number of problems.
So my recommendation to you is, if you must have a Nissan skyline, look for one in the best condition possible. Unless of course you are a mechanic yourself and can fix any problems on your own. Me on the other hand, I don't have any time to work on my own car. And even if I did I can't remember anything I learned in my high school shop class.
